Lawtey’s First Day

The Maylan family was one of many who were excited to see their kindergarten student begin their first day at Lawtey Elementary. Many parents waited with their nervous new students before saying their goodbyes.
Lawtey Elementary’s Ms. Kareema Mitchell’s second grade class was ready for the first day of the 2025-2026 school year!
Kensley and Jamie are just a few of the friends who reunited while waiting in line on the first day of school at Lawtey Elementary.
Fifth and sixth graders at Lawtey Elementary gathered under a new pavilion on picnic tables this year, prior to going to their new classrooms. The old tradition was hanging out on the basketball court. The cheerful faces gave a smile of appreciation for the upgrade.
It’s time for another exciting year of making memories with classmates! These Lawtey students wish everyone a great 2025-2026 year of learning.
Strike a pose for that first day of school! Students at Lawtey Elementary were just some of hundreds around Bradford County who began their first day of classes on August 12th. All decked out in the first day school gear, clothes and shoes, ready to take on new challenges.
Principal Terri O’Quinn begins her fifth year as principal at Lawtey Elementary School and continues to make sure she is the comforting face that welcomes the new and sometimes fearful faces of pre-K and kindergarten students each year.
Lawtey Elementary’s lunch ladies, Kim and Wanda, start bright and early to provide breakfast and lunch each school day. They want to remind everyone that free breakfast is from 7-7:30 and there’s no signup needed, just come hungry!
There’s a new, welcoming face at the front desk in Lawtey Elementary’s front office. Carley Pilcher is the new secretary that students, parents and visitors will encounter as they first enter school. She is eager to help everyone who enters during this new 2025-2026 school year.
