A 25-year-old Homestead man was sentenced to 70 days in jail and three years’ probation after he pleaded to breaking into a surveyor’s work truck and stealing tools.
Noah Alexander Shores pleaded to burglary and petit theft. Prosecutors dropped one additional charge of trespassing.
According to an arrest report, the owner of a surveying business in the area of the Bradford County Courthouse reported the break-in on June 4.
“(The owner) advised that between (5 p.m.) on June 3rd and (7 a.m.) on June 4th, an unknown individual broke into their fenced-in work yard where the business’s tools and work trucks are kept,” wrote a Bradford deputy. “(The owner) advised that he noticed a black and blue tool bag equipped with miscellaneous surveying tools to be missing from one of the trucks.”
The value of the tools was approximately $300.
A detective viewing video from America’s Best Value Motel identified a suspect walking in the area of the theft and then returning to a room in the motel. Detectives interviewed the occupant of the room who identified Shores as the offender.
“Contact was made with Shores,” wrote a deputy. “Post Miranda, Shores admitted to entering the property and stealing a tool bag from the bed of a truck. Shores described the bag to be black and blue, containing multiple tools.”
