Steven Carter shot a second-place score of 40 for the Bradford High School boys golf team in a loss to visiting Middleburg on Aug. 28.
The Tornadoes had a team score of 176, finishing just four strokes behind the Broncos.
Carter made par on six holes as he ended play just one stroke behind medalist Logan Wahlstrom.
Avery Burgin placed fourth for the Tornadoes with a score of 44. He had a birdie and made par on two holes.
Bradford’s Tucker Griffis finished in a two-way tie for fifth, making par on three holes and finishing with a score of 45. Patrick Pendarvis, who made par on two holes, shot a 47 to finish in a two-way tie for seventh.
Mason Stone and Mason Scoggins had scores of 55 and 62, respectively.
Bradford (2-5) entered the match off a home loss to Lafayette on Aug. 21 and a fourth-place finish in a five-team match on Aug. 26.
The match against Lafayette saw the Tornadoes finish with a team score of 191, while the Hornets had a score of 153.
Burgin and Pendarvis led Bradford, tying for seventh with scores of 46. Each made par on three holes.
Griffis, who made par on one hole, had a score of 48, while Carter, who made par on two holes, had a score of 51.
Stone finished with a score of 60.
In the Aug. 26 five-team match, Bradford had a score of 198 to finish ahead of Branford and behind Lafayette, Keystone Heights and Newberry.
Burgin, who made par on three holes, led the team with a 12th-place score of 46.
Griffis and Pendarvis had scores of 49 and 50, respectively, with Pendarvis making par on two holes.
Stone and Carter finished with scores of 53 and 59, respectively, with each making par on one hole.
Bradford hosts Palatka on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m. and will host Union County on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 4 p.m.
