BHS gets its 1st win in volleyball

Bradford High School’s volleyball team picked up its first win of the season, defeating visiting Palatka 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18) on Aug. 28.

The Tornadoes (1-3) entered the match off a 3-2 loss to visiting Baker County on Aug. 25, which saw Kingslee Phillips record 21 assists, 11 digs and eight kills, while Shelby Cole had 19 assists and 12 digs.

Autumn DeKorver, Ky’lee Johnson and Leila Roberts each had six kills. Johnson and Roberts each had two blocks as well, while DeKorver had nine digs.

Wynter Barrington led the team in blocks with three, while Manduo Wei recorded seven digs.

Bradford plays at Hawthorne on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m., following a junior varsity match at 6 p.m. The Tornadoes host Newberry on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and host Keystone Heights on Monday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
