
The RJE Alumni gathered for their biannual reunion from Aug. 29-31. The festivities began Friday evening with a lively meet-and-greet at the Tigers Place, formerly known as Reno Rec. Alumni enjoyed an evening filled with laughter, reminiscing and old-school music.
On Saturday, the Purple and Gold Banquet took place at Camp Blanding Armory. The event started with a social hour at 6 p.m., attended by approximately 130 alumni, family and friends. Notably, Ruth Dell Holland, a member of the eldest class of 1950, was in attendance. Elvis Williams provided a catered dinner, and DJ Eric Cruger played music throughout the evening. Henry Wade served as emcee, and Christian comedian Simon Merriex provided entertainment.
The reunion concluded Sunday with a church service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, including a memorial to honor past administrators, staff and students. The Rev. Ronald Strong delivered a powerful message, and a lunch followed at the Tigers Place. President Joann Jackson and the executive committee extended their thanks to everyone who contributed to making the reunion a success.
The alumni committee meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Tigers Place, welcoming all interested individuals.
