BHS, UCHS play each other in boys, girls golf

Bradford and Union County high schools’ boys and girls golfers competed in an Oct. 9 match in Alachua, with the Tornadoes’ Avery Burgin earning boys medalist honors, while Bradford’s Sarah Rantz and Union’s Katelyn Seay tied for first in girls play.

The Tornadoes won the boys match as team with a score of 172. Union finished with a score of 212.

Burgin had a birdie and made par on five holes, finishing with a score of 38. He finished five strokes ahead of teammate Steven Carter, who made par on three holes and finished with a score of 43.

Bradford’s Tucker Griffis, who made par on two holes, shot a third-place score of 44.

The Tigers were led by Ayden Tomlinson, who made par on three holes and placed fourth with a score of 45.

Bradford’s Patrick Pendarvis and Charlie Zink each shot a 47 to tie for fifth. Zink made par on two holes, while Pendarvis made par on one.

Union’s Gavin Kuhn and Bradford’s Mason Stone placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with scores of 49 and 51. Each made par on one hole.

The Tigers’ Brysen Tomlinson, who made par on one hole, shot a ninth-place score of 58, while teammates Emery Muse and Fenix Norman were 10th and 11th, respectively, with scores of 60 and 73.

On the girls side, Rantz and Seay each shot a 59, while Bradford’s Alexis Fuhrman had a third-place score of 60.

The Tigers’ Sophia Elixson and Kerissa Seay each shot a 64 to tie for fourth.

Neither Bradford nor Union fielded a full girls team.
