
The Woman’s Club of Starke inducted 23 new members at its Oct. 8 meeting, with each receiving a certificate and a bouquet of daisies.
Joining the club were Sonia Bennett, Christina Brady, Olivia Burnell, Denise Carter, Kaitlyn Dugger, April Ennis, Brenda Finn, Carrie Crews, Jessica Godwin, Kimberly Hanna, Terrie Harrison, DarbyAnn Jennings, Patricia Kirkland, Roxanne McBride, Mary Morris, Mary Padgett, Jasminique Panther, Crystal Porchiazzo, Erica Reddish, Sabrina Roberts, Crystal Rosier, Joy Thornton and Tammy Wallace.
Towsend Strickland was the meeting’s guest speaker. His topic was how he got into the jam-and-jelly business.
Club President Sheila Barnes spoke of the club surpassing $4,000 in fundraising before presenting a $1,000 donation to Arc of Bradford Executive Director John Williams. The Arc serves those with mental and developmental disabilities in five counties (Bradford, Union, Alachua, Clay and Putnam), dedicated to treating them with dignity, empowering them to choose and realize their own goals and promoting their strengths through education and advocacy.
The club hosts bingo every third Tuesday at 6 p.m. Bingo events are open to the public.
On Nov. 21-22, the club will host its third annual Fall Market.
Besides Barnes, the current slate of officers and board members consists of Cindy Little (first vice president), Lisa Rodgers (second vice president), Cleo Elder (third vice president), Lori Thompson (fourth vice president), Jejetta Lee (recording secretary), Jaelyn Jackson (corresponding secretary), Linda Lee (treasurer) and Charnelle Whittemore (immediate past president).
