Kody Norris has played the Grand Ole Opry nine times in the last couple of years, and Sunday, he’s bringing his blend of bluegrass and country music to a Christmas party in Brooker.
The Kody Norris Show will perform from 4 to 9 p.m. December 21 at Belle Oaks Barn, for what organizers are calling a big bluegrass Christmas party.
“It’ll be Christmas music done in a bluegrass style,” Norris said. “So, all the traditional Christmas favorites that everybody loves and recognizes, we will do those in a bluegrass style and hopefully in a manner that everybody can sing along.”
Traditional Christmas dinner included
The evening will feature a traditional Christmas dinner with turkey, ham, and all the trimmings in what Norris called a beautifully decorated Christmas atmosphere.
“Just a good, down-home country Christmas with a nostalgic feel,” he said. “And especially when you add in a traditional-type Christmas dinner and all the sights and smells and all the things that go along with that, I think it’ll be a very, very unique experience.”
Norris said the show will include traditional Christmas favorites along with some of the band’s more popular bluegrass tunes.
From the East Tennessee mountains to the Opry
Norris hails from Mountain City in the extreme northeastern mountains of East Tennessee, where his family has lived for generations.
“I got started in bluegrass and country music very, very early on and around nine or 10 years old, started getting interested in it and started playing professionally in my teens,” Norris said.
In 2026, he’ll be celebrating 20 years with his band, traveling across the world.
“In that time, we’ve been able to accomplish so many things that I’m so proud of, and probably one of those biggest accomplishments, I guess you would say, was finally making it to the Grand Ole Opry,” he said. “In the last couple of years, we’ve performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage nine times.”
Rhinestone suits and something for everyone
Norris said the audience can expect a well-rounded performance that includes the rhinestone suits of classic 1950s country music, brought into the modern era.
“We try to bring a well-crafted original performance, very well-rounded and a little bit of something for everybody,” he said. “Things that the kids can relate to, mom and dad can relate to, grandma and grandpa can relate to.”
The show includes both comedy and serious elements.
“We want to make everybody laugh, cry, and stomp their feet all in one well-rounded performance,” Norris said.
