BHS lifter Randolph wins district title

Bradford High School girls weightlifter Destiny Randolph automatically qualified for region-level competition by winning her weight class in the traditional event at the District 6-1A meet, which was held Jan. 21 at Keystone Heights High School.

Randolph won the 183-pound class with a 275-pound total (140 clean and jerk, 135 bench press). That put her 45 pounds ahead of runner-up Danni Calabrese of Bishop Snyder.

Utilizing the Schwartz/Malone Formula, which factors body weight vs. pounds lifted, Randolph was the event’s eighth-best overall lifter.

The class winners received automatic berths in the Region 3 meet, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at West Nassau High School in Callahan. At-large qualifiers will be announced later.

Bradford’s Kolee Lemire placed fourth in the 129 class with a 210 total (105, 105), while Addison Thornton placed fifth in the unlimited class with a 280 total (135, 145).

Earning sixth-place finishes for the Tornadoes were Mallory Frazier with a 190 total (100, 90) in the 139 class and Rhylee Schaffer with a 215 total (105, 110) in the 154 class.

Schaffer also competed in the Olympic event, finishing sixth with a 160 total (55 snatch, 105 clean and jerk).
