Keystone Heights High School ended the regular season with a 51-40 win over host Bell on Jan. 30 to enter the District 3-3A tournament on a three-game win streak.
The sixth seed Indians (7-14) travel to play third seed Baldwin (10-11) in the quarterfinals of the district tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. If they win, the Indians will travel to play second seed Bradford (16-4) in a semifinal game on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will play top seed Newberry (17-3), fourth seed Palatka (10-15) or fifth seed Interlachen (5-19) for the championship on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. The highest seed will host.
Keystone’s win streak began with a 57-40 victory at Stanton Prep on Jan. 27. Dereon Tochterman scored 15 points, while Will Begue and Zane Leger each had eight points. The Indians also got seven points each from Luke Bacorn and Destin Harnage, six from Cooper Barry, three from Parker Pescara and two from Baylor Ford.
Barry added nine rebounds, three blocked shots and three steals, while Bacorn and Leger each had six rebounds. Leger also dished out three assists, while Tochterman had three steals.
On Jan. 29, Keystone 32 points, nine rebounds and five steals from Tochterman in a 91-61 win over visiting Hope Christian.
Ford had 21 points, while the Indians also got 10 from Leger, nine from Rylan Bell, five each from Barry and Begue, four from Bacorn, three from Donald Hill and two from Harnage.
Bacorn and Leger grabbed eight and six rebounds, respectively, while Harnage led the team in assists with seven. Leger and Ford had five and four assists, respectively.
Keystone also got four steals from Bacorn and three steals from Ford.
