Bradford High School’s Destiny Randolph took part in her first-ever state-championship meet in girls weightlifting, finishing with a 14th-place total in the traditional event’s 183-pound class at the Feb. 13 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A Finals in Lakeland.

Randolph was unsuccessful on her first two clean-and-jerk attempts, but she was able to get the 140-pound total on her final attempt. She had successful bench-press attempts of 130 and 140, giving her an overall total of 280. She was 20 pounds away from earning a top-10 finish.

The performance capped a season in which Randolph won district and regional championships. Her overall total at each of those events was 275. Randolph improved upon her bench total at those meets by 5 pounds at state.
