Union County High School was outscored 16-6 in the fourth quarter of a 54-49 loss to host Hilliard in a Region 3-Rural boys basketball game on Feb. 14 in Hilliard.
King Madison scored approximately half of his 19 points in the fourth quarter in helping second seed Hilliard (18-5) survive and earn a spot in the Feb. 21 Region 3 championship game. The Red Flashes will take on top seed Trenton (24-4).
The third seed Tigers (14-9) led 43-38 after three quarters and got two free throws from Jackson Andersen-Davis in making it a 48-48 game in the fourth.
Hilliard scored six of the game’s final seven points.
Union was making its first regional appearance since 2013.
