Mr. Kenneth David Buckner, 80, of Keystone Heights passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 1, 2026, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following a short battle with cancer. He was born May 2, 1945, in McDonald, Tennessee to Thomas G. and Margie V. (Leamon) Buckner. He was a proud veteran, having served as a Military Police Officer in the Air Force, and earning his bachelor’s degree in criminology, which was a testament to his commitment to learning and growth. His career as a highway patrol officer began in Pahokee, where he met the love of his life, Paula, and he retired as a Major 31 years later in Venice. He was an active and longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he lived out his faith and brought joy to those around him volunteering countless hours and assisting in many areas of the church. Whether he was playing, watching, teaching, or encouraging others, the sport of golfing was definitely his passion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Paula (Bryant) Buckner. Together they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage, building a loving family that includes two daughters, Kelly (Casey) Pickering of Palm Coast, and Kara Buckner of Keystone Heights. Also left behind is his sister, Joan Torres, of Blountstown. As “Pawpaw,” he took immense joy in the lives of his grandchildren, Bailey (Tanner), Khorydel, Reiley, Konner, Trenton, and Christopher; along with his great-grandson, Kheanu. He was a dedicated family man who always made time for the important things in life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Denmark officiating. Margie Cason

Margie Isoline Ford Cason, born May 25, 1936, in Wilkinson County, Georgia, to the late Henry and Mary Ford, peacefully departed this life at her home in Lake Butler on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, after a brief illness. She was a pioneering figure in her community, whose dedication and service will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. After graduating from Wilkinson County High School, she married Jessie M. Cason and together they started their life in Lake Butler. Her career began as a deputy clerk for the Union County Clerk of Court, where she worked diligently for 14 years. During this time, she shattered barriers by becoming the first female city councilwoman for Lake Butler and subsequently transitioned into the role of the first female Mayor of Lake Butler. Following her tenure in these influential positions, she ran for Clerk of Court, serving the community for an additional 12 years in this vital role. She was not just a committed public servant but also a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.

She leaves behind her beloved son, Scott (Cynthia) Cason. Margie was also a proud grandmother to Jessica L. Cason, Brandon S. Cason, Jonathon M. (Lindsay) Rodgers, and Thomas C. (Stephanie) Rodgers. Additionally, she embraced her role as a great-grandmother to Jordan V. Shinholster, Mia N. Shinholster, Emmilynn M. Rodgers, and Aniston K. Rodgers. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Laurie Perdue and Gail Deen; along with a special family friend, Annette Redmond. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Jessie M. Cason; parents, Henry H. Ford and Mary I. Thompson Ford; sister, Mary Alice Ford; and brothers, Henry, Robert, Bill, Joe, Gene, Harold, and Ray Ford. The legacy of love and service that she leaves behind will continue to inspire generations to come.

A graveside service will be held in her honor on Thursday, Feb 19, at 11 a.m. at Whitehead Cemetery in Lake Butler. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her life and contributions to the community she loved so deeply.

Mrs. Alsine Elizabeth Crews Crawford, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at the age of 94 from natural causes. Born on May 3, 1931, in Baldwin to the late Archibald Graham and Melinda (Barber) Crews, she dedicated her life to her family and her home, serving as a devoted homemaker. She will be remembered for her deep roots in the community, her unwavering faith, and her cherished membership at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church. She found great joy in cooking and baking, sharing her culinary talents with her loved ones and bringing warmth to many gatherings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Crawford in 1993; and her sons, Steve Crawford and Curtis Crawford.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Joan) Crawford of Starke; daughters-in-laws, Ronda (Mike) Crawford of Kingsley Lake and Sue Crawford of Graham; and her seven beloved grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Granny,” Jeremy Crawford, Christy Strickland, Josh Crawford, Phillip Crawford, Ashley Browning, Amber Reichert, and Austin Crawford; great-grandchildren, Faith McDermet, Cade Crawford, Jade Crawford, Hunter Crawford, Chase Crawford, Kiran Crawford, Jett Crawford, Jaxx Crawford, Andi Reichert, Colbi Reichert, Roland Crawford, and Silas Crawford, each of whom was a source of immense pride and joy for her.

A funeral service was held in her honor on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church. A visitation took place prior to the service, allowing family and friends to come together to celebrate her life and share cherished memories. Following the service she was laid to rest at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Her kindness, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Deacon Sim Oliver Crum Sr., 75, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Starke and attended school and graduated in Bradford County. He was a member of New Covenant Baptist Ministries, 863 E. Brownlee St., Starke, 32091. He was a pillar of the community, a businessman, self-employed, and a contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hankerson Crum; three sons; two daughters; a brother; two sisters; and 13 grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 20, from 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at New Covenant Baptist Church, 863 E. Brownlee St., Starke, 32091. Theresa Long

Theresa Christine Meek Long, born May 2, 1957, in Jacksonville, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at her home after a hard-fought brief illness.  She was a longtime resident of Belmore and graduated from KHHS in 1975.Theresa was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love and a distinct way of making everyone feel like one of her own with numerous nicknames across many diverse groups of people: Fish, Mama T, MiMi, Trese, Seester and many more.  She loved all music from Southern rock to Sunday morning hymns that she sang every lyric to until her very last breath. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her beautiful light.  We ask that you remember her in the special ways her life was lived and the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Meek and Gloria Meek; and her brothers, John “Jack” Meek and Timothy “Tim” Meek.

Abbie Esther Harley Massey, 81, of Lawtey went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at her residence with some of her loving family by her side. She was born in Lawtey on March 15, 1944, to the late Hubbard Cornelius Harley and Gracie Mae Starling Harley. Abbie was a lifelong resident of Lawtey and a proud graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1962. She was married to the love of her life, Wayne Evan Massey, on March 24, 1963, and celebrated 61 years

of marriage. She was devoted to her family, her career, and most importantly, to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A born-again Christian saved by His amazing grace, she worshipped at and was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Lawtey. She enjoyed her career in banking with Florida National Bank and First Union Bank, where she

dedicated 27 years before retiring in 1998. She was also a devoted Bradford Tornado football fan, proudly cheering alongside her husband for more than 60 years. Friday night home games were a cherished tradition. Go Big Red! She was a talented quilter and found great joy in creating beautiful, handmade keepsakes for her family and friends. Her easygoing, calm, caring demeanor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Abbie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 61 years, Wayne Evan Massey; son-in-law, Bobby Autry; sister, Connie Padgett; brothers, Joe and Randall Harley; and brother-in-law, Richard Chesser.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Terri (Michael) Andrews of Wellborn, Virginia Autry of Hampton Lake, and Audrey (Stephen) Murphy and Esther (Jeremy) Lawson, both of Starke; grandchildren, Scott (Elizabeth) Taylor, Josh Taylor, Matthew (Willow) Andrews, Ella Murphy, Grant Lawson, and Carley Lawson; two bonus grandchildren, Cassie (Chad) Reddish and Jim (Angel) Autry; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Landon, Allie, Annalise and Adeline Taylor, Theodore Andrews, Emma and Will Reddish; sisters, Jacqueline (A.Q.) Gerald Norman

Gerald Grandon Norman, 85, of Starke passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at his residence with his loving sons by his side.  He was born in Starke on Oct. 7, 1940, to the late Tullie Grandon Norman and Winifred Louise McRae Norman.  A lifelong resident of Bradford County, he graduated from Bradford High School in 1958. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served four years. During his time in the Air Force, he served as an airman specializing as an airplane mechanic, skills that would lay the foundation for his long and successful career with the Army National Guard. He was deeply proud of his country and openly displayed his patriotism throughout his life.  Following his honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, Annette Estelle Padgett. They were united in marriage on March 3, 1968 and shared 54 wonderful years together. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and six cherished grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life. Gerald was a devoted family man who treasured time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a mechanic at Camp Blanding, where he worked faithfully for over 30 years. Outside of work, he loved traveling to the mountains and creating sweet memories with his family.  He was truly a treasure and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Annette Estelle Padgett Norman; sisters, Helen Sapp and Dorothy Eggers; and brothers-in-law, Eldon Sapp, Bernard “Barney” Eggers, Kenneth Padgett, and Elwood Padgett; sister-in-law, Catherine Sapp; and great grandson, Cohen Hanson.

He is survived by his three sons, Chester D. (Angela) Norman of Newberry, Timothy C. (Karen) Norman of Jacksonville, and Wesley A. (Karen) Norman of Lake Butler; six grandchildren, Austin, Alex (Makala), Audrey, Rachel (Eli), Rosalea, and Rebekah; and many extended family members and friends.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Ray Rhoden, 73, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026. Jackie was born in Jacksonville to Raymond (Ralph) Smart and Elizabeth Griffis Smart. She attended Paxon Senior High School, where she met the love of her life, David Eugene Rhoden. She and David were happily married for 52 years. She was employed by the Bradford County School District until her retirement. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Starke, where she taught Sunday school and sang beautifully in the choir.

Jackie is survived by her husband, David Rhoden; two children, Teresa Rhoden and D. Raymond (Rachel) Rhoden; four grandchildren, Chase D. Rhoden, Shelby R. Rhoden, R. Cole Rhoden, and Gracie N. Rhoden; sister, Dorothy (Roger) Baskin; and two nephews, John (Jeannie) Baskin and Phillip Baskin.

Larry Jones Sands, 78, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, in Gainesville. Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, Raymond and LeVerne Sands; and his older brother, Billy R. Sands.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn M. (Lyn) Sands; son, Bryan S. (Michelle) Sands; grandchildren, Brynna M. Sands, Brayden M. Sands, and Braxton M. Sands; brother, Gary G. (Patsy) Sands; brother-in-law, Kirby A. (Dot) McDonald (Dot), sister-in-law, Annette W. Sands; nephews, Matthew P. (Lisa) Sands and Michael B. (Cheri) McDonald; nieces, Dana S. (Johnny) O’Quinn, Britany S. (Brian) Cree, and Mary M. (Marc) LaMotte; and cousins Robert E. (Peggy) Jones, Kenny Sands, Roger (Ruchie) Sands, Lynn S. Bennett and Leila S Brannen; and numerous great nephews and great nieces.

Larry was born in Alma, Georgia on Nov. 17, 1947, and lived through the age of 5 in the farming community of Glennville, Georgia, in the home of his grandfather, C.K. Sands and grandmother, Rosa K. Sands. His family then moved to Jacksonville where he graduated from J. Ribault Senior High School in 1966. He attended Florida Junior College at Jacksonville before enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves Field Hospital unit and trained as an operating-room specialist in 1968. In 1970, he married Marilyn McDonald (Lyn) and transferred to Florida State University in Tallahassee. He graduated from FSU in 1972 with a degree in criminology and a minor in accounting. He was hired by the US Treasury Department as a Special Agent for the Internal Revenue Service and assigned to the Miami office. He worked in the Criminal Investigation Division in Miami for 18 years. During those 18 years, he was given the nickname “Catfish” by some of his coworkers. He enjoyed working on many projects, assignments, and specializing in money laundering cases. In 1990, he transferred to the Gainesville field office of IRS/CID and continued his case work for 14 more years. In 2004, he retired and began his consulting business in the area of money laundering and bank fraud for eight years. He loved being with other people, talking and sharing his faith in God with them. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, Community Christian Church (345 SE Palmetto Ave., Keystone Heights). A reception will follow in the Family Life Center. Randall Nathan Smith Jr., 21, of Gainesville passed away far too soon on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. Born on July 22, 2004, in Gainesville, he was the beloved son of Susan Sylvester and Randall Nathan Smith Sr. He grew up full of curiosity, energy, and a deep love for life. He graduated from Bradford High School, where he was an active member of the school band throughout middle and high school. Music remained one of his lifelong passions. He loved all genres and was always ready to share a favorite song or discover a new one. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and a drive to learn new skills. He earned his welding certification and had recently obtained his CDL, discovering a true passion for truck driving. He was proud of the path he was building for himself and excited for the open road ahead. Whether he was learning something new, fixing something up, or lending a hand, he had his hands in a little bit of everything. He loved gaming and could often be found immersed in his favorite games, connecting with friends and enjoying the challenge and adventure they brought. He treasured time spent with his beloved girlfriend, Isabella D’Amour, creating memories filled with laughter and love. He also took great pride in working on his blue 2004 Mustang, a project that reflected both his dedication and his personality. He was preceded in death by his father, Randall Nathan Smith Sr.; grandmother, Connie Williamson; and grandfather, Perry Knight.

Above all, Randall loved his family. He is survived by his mother, Susan Sylvester; brother, William Weeks; sister, Ashley Weeks-Sippos; grandmother, Maxine Booth; girlfriend, Isabella D’Amour; cousin, Mike Williamson; his cherished nephew, Arthur Liam; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever hold him in their hearts. Randall will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his willingness to try new things, his love for music and gaming, and the joy he brought to those around him. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made in 21 years will last a lifetime. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Lindsay Spears, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at her home, in the embrace of her family after an extended illness. Born Aug. 12, 1997, in Gainesville, Lindsay’s vibrant spirit and sense of wit brought joy to all who knew her. A proud graduate of Hope Baptist Christian School, class of 2015, she was a talented writer, whose words touched the hearts of many. She had an extraordinary way of engaging people with her wit and humor, always finding a way to lighten the mood and share a laugh. Her love for life was evident in her hobbies; she enjoyed doing her hair and makeup, cheering on the Florida Gators, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with her family. Lindsay’s ability to bring people together through her warmth and kindness will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her cherished grandparents, Lavon and Lenwood Kitchens, and Gwen Rhodes; and her aunt, Linda Hodges. Though her time with us was far too brief, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted parents, Michael and Jackie Spears; her loving brother, J.R. (Janae) Spears; and her two beloved fur babies, Lilly and Charlie. She also leaves behind her dear aunt, Donna Mapel along with cousins, Sonya and Clay Stack; their children Courtney, Taylor, Tucker, Trey, and Jack, Johnny and Tiffany Hodges with their children, Wyatt (Raelyn) and their children, Riverlyn and Adalyn and Cadence; as well as Jackie, Joey, and Michael Daugherty.

Patricia “Patti” Ann Patrick Thompson, 80, of Lawtey passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at HCA Capital Hospital in Tallahassee after spending several months visiting her daughter. Patricia was born Feb. 26, 1945, in Duval County to the late William Patrick and Jannie Christine Carter Patrick. She was raised in Lawtey and remained a lifelong resident of Bradford County. Following her graduation from Bradford High School in 1963, she began a long and dedicated career in healthcare. From an early age, she knew her calling was to help others, and she found deep purpose in serving those in need. Over the years, she worked as a secretary at the University of Florida, owned and operated Patti’s In-Home Daycare, and later served as a Certified Nursing Assistant, specializing in private home healthcare for longtime Atrium clients. Outside of her work, she enjoyed tending to her plants, collecting antiques, and had a special passion for chickens. She delighted in her extensive collection of chicken memorabilia, including figurines and dishes, which reflected her joyful and caring spirit. More than anything, she cherished time with her family and loved being at her old family homestead. She was a true treasure and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Tex, Mike, and Ricky Patrick.

She is survived by her children, Randolph “Randy” McKinley Thompson of Lawtey, Kimberly Ann Thompson Abu Kdiess of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Andrew Jacob (Stephanie) Thompson, Dusti Lynn Strickland, Kelli Ann Strickland; three great- granddaughters, Blakeli, Everli, and Graycen; brothers, William (Lynne) Patrick of Clemmons, North Carolina, Norman Patrick of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Robert (Linda) Patrick, Ronny (Tammy) Patrick, and Lawrence (Melissa) Patrick all of Lawtey; sisters, Vorease Jones of Starke, and Tonya Hodges of Hampton; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

A graveside Celebration of Life was held Friday, Feb. 13, at Peoria Cemetery in Orange Park with Chaplain Jim Cox officiating.
