Shi’Kira Jones, 22, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on March 14 for 18 counts of fraud-swindle, larceny and a probation violation.
According to the arrest report, the investigation began when a store computer flagged suspicious transactions at the Starke McDonald’s drive-through register occurring between Feb. 24 and March 10. The store’s director of operations reviewed surveillance video that showed Jones using a manager’s code to ring up customer orders as free while collecting the customers’ cash payments.
The manager told deputies that Jones used the manager’s code 18 times during the period, totaling $264 in theft.
When deputies made contact with Jones on March 14 after she returned to the restaurant, she was advised she was trespassed from the property. After being read her Miranda rights, Jones admitted to the theft and told the deputy she had used the stolen money to pay bills and for probation fees. Jones told the deputy she was at the time on misdemeanor probation as well as felony probation for grand theft.
The case was investigated by Bradford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Paul King.
The claims in the arrest report are not proven and the defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty.
