Union County High School’s baseball team is the number-one seed in Region 3-Rural and will host a best-of-three semifinal series against fourth seed Madison County.
The Tigers (18-7), who defeated Lafayette for the District 6 championship, will play the District 5 runner-up Cowboys (15-7) on Friday, May 1, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, May 2, at 1 p.m. If a third game is necessary, it’ll be played 30 minutes following the conclusion of the second game.
If Union wins, it will host either second seed Aucilla Christian (19-6) or fourth seed Lafayette (14-9) in a May 8-9 championship series.
This is the Tigers’ 10th straight season making the regional playoffs. They are looking to advance to the regional finals for the fourth straight year and for the fifth time in six seasons.
Madison didn’t qualify for the postseason in 2025, but is making its eighth playoff appearance in 10 seasons. The Cowboys are seeking their first postseason win since defeating Union in 2019.
