BHS, KHHS, UCHS softball teams play district tourney games April 28

 

District tournament play for the Bradford, Keystone Heights and Union County high school softball teams begins Tuesday, April 28.

Leanne Dicks and the Union County Tigers are ready to take a swing at winning a district championship. Union, Bradford and Keystone Heights will all play semifinal games in their respective district tournaments on Tuesday, April 28.

Union, which is 11th in the Florida High School Athletic Association/MaxPreps Rural Class power rankings, is the second seed in the District 6 tournament, which will be played at Fort White High School. The Tigers (14-10) will play third seed Dixie County (5-14) or sixth seed Bell (5-11) in a semifinal game at 5 p.m. on April 28. If Union wins, it will play top seed Branford (16-8), fourth seed Taylor County (8-11) or fifth seed Fort White (7-13) for the championship on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m.

Keystone (10-14) also earned the second seed in its tournament and will host third seed Interlachen (11-10) in a District 5-2A semifinal game at 6:30 p.m. on April 28. The winner will travel to play top seed Newberry (13-8) for the championship at 6:30 p.m. on April 30.

Bradford (2-14) is the fourth seed in the District 3-2A tournament and will travel to play top seed Baldwin (17-6) at 7 p.m. on April 28. If the Tornadoes win, they’ll travel to play second seed Bishop Snyder (16-8) or third seed Trinity Christian (14-6) at 7 p.m. on April 30.
