Lake Butler man switches lures to catch winning bass

Blake Harrell, who caught the winning fish in the Tommy Spires Bass Fishing Tournament along the shoreline to the far right of the boat ramp, said he figured out early that the usual approach wasn’t going to work.

“I found out pretty early on top-water wasn’t the deal,” Harrell said. “Usually, on Butler Lake, we’re doing pretty good with top water (lures).”

Harrell downsized to a Z-Man Evo ChatterBait, a vibrating jig fished through the middle of the water column, to land the winner.
