Keystone Heights High School had the first four finishers and took five of the top-10 spots total in the boys race at a Sept. 16 cross-country meet hosted by Florida Deaf and Blind at St. Augustine’s Anastasia Park.
The Indians took first in each of the team standings, with the boys placing first ahead of Crescent City and Interlachen and the girls taking first over Interlachen, Crescent City and Florida Deaf and Blind.
Noah Yara topped the boys field of 32 with a time of 17:27, while Hunter Gray was the runner-up with a time of 18:13. Ryder Thomas and John Cusack placed third and fourth, respectively, with times of 18:44 and 18:56.
Ryeland Wahl also placed in the top 10 with a seventh-place time of 19:44, while Jason Parales and Gavin Morford finished in the top half of the field, placing 13th and 16th, respectively. Parales had a time of 20:43, while Morford had a time of 21:13.
Also running for Keystone were Mason Gray 21:50, Alex Mahaffey 21:56 and Oliver Miller 24:26.
The girls race, which consisted of 33 runners, saw Keystone’s Ryleigh Thomas earn the runner-up spot with a time of 21:20. That left her trailing Interlachen’s Paislee Guessford, who had a time of 20:02.
Melody Tyre placed third for the Indians with a time of 21:49, while teammates Alyssa Sanford and Olivia Griffin finished sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 23:30 and 24:57.
Cali Chamberlain had a top-10 finish for Keystone as well with an eighth-place time of 25:19.
Keystone’s Bailee Morris and Clara Beth Robinson also competed, finishing with times of 30:16 and 31:44, respectively.
