Bradford FFA’s Koledon “K.B.” Lemire participated in a Florida Farm Bureau speech contest held at Christian Temple Church Fellowship Hall in Macclenny on Sept. 10.
Lemire’s speech focused on invasive species, specifically invasive hogs and the damage they can cause to crops and farmland.
Through preparing for and participating in the contest, Lemire learned how quickly invasive species can affect the lives of farmers and ranchers, along with their livestock and crops. He also gained valuable leadership skills and further developed his public speaking abilities.
Lemire said his favorite part of participating in speech contests is the opportunity to meet new people, make connections and enjoy spending time with fellow FFA members. The experience allowed him to strengthen his confidence while representing FFA and sharing an important agricultural topic with others.
