STARKE— Union deputies arrested a 29-year-old homeless man after they said he followed two Lake Butler women, crept around their homes and peeped into their windows.
Jose Dean Gonzales was arrested for stalking.
According to an arrest report, one of the victims told deputies that when she and her cousin go for morning walks in the area of Northwest Fourth Street, the defendant follows them making snide comments.
“(The victim) told me Jose has been creeping around her house and she has even seen him peeping in her windows,” wrote Deputy Staci L. Stock in an arrest report. “She told me that she is in fear for her and her children’s safety.”
The officer added that the victim told her that she and her husband told the defendant not to come back on their property. However, he continued to trespass.
The second victim corroborated the first victim’s story and added that she believed the defendant was going to try to break into her residence while she was on her morning walk.
“(The victim) said that she saw him on the corner by her house, so she turned around to see him charging towards her front door,” wrote Stock.
The deputy added that the second victim provided home surveillance video to the deputy to back up her claim. Stock wrote that the video shows the defendant lurking outside of the victim’s residence, watching her and running toward her front door.
