STARKE— Bradford deputies arrested a 39-year-old Starke woman after an investigator for Florida’s Department of Financial Services filed a sworn complaint accusing the woman of lying about her household income.

Brandy Nichole Montgomery was arrested for fraud and larceny.

According to the complaint, the defendant applied for public assistance benefits on six occasions between November 2016 and May 2019. On each application she listed her name as Brandy Eaves and reported that her household consisted of her boyfriend and four children.

The investigator added that from October 2016 through November 2017, the defendant’s boyfriend earned $37,204 from a Hampton carport manufacturer. He also earned $45,957 from a Starke nonprofit organization from December 2017 through November 2019.

The investigator wrote that by failing to report the boyfriend’s income, Montgomery’s household received $26,096 in supplemental nutrition assistance benefits for which the family was not entitled.
