Agencies receive traffic awards

STARKE— On Friday, July 15, Starke police, Lawtey police and the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office accepted awards at the 2022 Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge in Orlando.

The Lawtey agency was awarded first place among Category 1 agencies.  The department said it competed with 26 other agencies for the honor. 

The Biscayne Park Police Department and the Sewell’s Point Police Department also placed in the top three in Category 1, which includes departments with between one and 15 officers.

Starke police won first place in the Champions Class, while the sheriff’s office placed second in Category 3.

The state’s Department of Transportation sponsors the Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge to promote traffic safety across the state.
