Bakken will continue her softball career at Columbia

Takeirra Bakken, a 2023 Bradford High School graduate, will continue her softball career, announcing that she’ll transfer to Columbia (South Carolina) College after two years at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Bakken, an outfielder, played in 20 games her sophomore year at FSCJ, batting .333 with three home runs and 16 RBI. Some of her highlights that season included:

—2 for 3 with a double, a triple and two RBI in an 11-3 win over South Georgia State on Feb. 11.

—A home run and two RBI in a 4-2 win over Tallahassee on Feb. 14.

—A grand slam in a 6-3 win over Thomas University on Feb. 26.

—3 for 3 with two doubles, a grand slam and seven RBI in an 11-0 win over Trinity Baptist on Feb. 28.

Bakken played in a total of 70 games in her two years at FSCJ. She batted .286 over those two seasons with 13 doubles, a triple, nine home runs and 50 RBI.

The Columbia Koalas compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and are members of the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
