Former Bradford High School football player Dontae Balfour received honorable mention with the release of the All-American Athletic Conference teams.

Balfour, a redshirt junior at Charlotte, recorded two interceptions and 49 tackles (fourth-best on the team) at his position of corner.

This was the second straight year that Balfour has tied the Charlotte school record for pass breakups in a season. He had 11 in each of the last two years, with his total of 22 in a career setting a school record.

Balfour, a 2021 BHS graduate, had a season-high nine tackles (eight solo) in a 29-27 win against UAB on Nov. 30. Other standout games included recording seven tackles (six solo) in a 21-20 win over Rice on Sept. 28 and five tackles (four solo) in a 52-14 loss to Indiana on Sept. 21.

In two years, Balfour has totaled 103 tackles (70 solo) and three interceptions.

Balfour, who spent his first two seasons at North Carolina, announced Dec. 12 that he’s transferring to Texas Tech University for his final year of eligibility.
