Will Begue and Baylor Ford earned fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively, for the Keystone Heights High School boys golf team in a loss to host Oak Hall on Aug. 28 at Gainesville’s Hawkstone Country Club.
The Indians had a team score of 184 to place 23 strokes behind the Eagles.
Begue had a birdie and made par on one hole in finishing with a score of 43, while Ford made par on three holes to finish at 44.
Landon Spence shot a 47 to finish in a three-way tie for sixth, while Sammy Wacha, who made par on two holes, shot a 50 to finish in a two-way tie for ninth.
Jackson McDaniel, who made par on one hole, and Nate Bardier had scores of 51 and 53, respectively.
The Indians (3-3) were coming off a second-place finish in a five-team match on Aug. 26 at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club. Keystone had a team score of 166 to finish behind Lafayette, which had a score of 158.
Keystone placed ahead of Newberry, Bradford and Branford.
Begue had the second-lowest individual score of 38. He had two birdies and made par on three holes.
Bardier, who had two birdies and made par on two holes, had a seventh-place score of 41, while Ford, who made par on four holes, finished in a two-way tie for eighth with a score of 43.
Wacha and Spence had scores of 44 and 46, respectively, with each making par on three holes.
McDanile made par on one hole and finished with a score of 51.
Keystone will play Buchholz and Gainesville on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m. at Gainesville’s Ironwood Golf Course and will participate in the Randy Warren Invitational on Monday, Sept. 8, at 8 a.m. at the Golf Club at Fleming Island.
