KEYSTONE HEIGHTS—The Garden Club of the Lakes awarded the Yard of the Month for September 2022 to Ed and Iris Bennett of Keystone Heights.
This year the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Both Ed and Iris are Clay Electric retirees.
The Bennetts built their beautiful home on Alderman Road overlooking Lake Geneva In the early 70s.
Their gorgeous landscaping has all the detail of a yard designed over time. There are so many masterful venues where the plants selected are so happy in that location.
All the plants that have been grouped create a colorful pallet throughout the yard.
There is the largest Croton I’ve ever seen, and it puts on such a gorgeous display.
Nearby are beautiful birds of paradise. There are views of the lake and beautiful flowering plants everywhere you look.
There is a lovely fountain with a wall of plants as the backdrop, and Ed built the little birdhouses on the wall.
The small pond with goldfish adds another point of interest. A vine of bleeding heart and morning glory are intertwined just off the deck.
There are yellow Gerber daisies in a flower bed and a beautiful display of Angelina in a pot in front of the home.
Everything in this yard has been carefully thought out, and it shows. The Bennett’s truly have a beautiful yard!
