Union County High School participated in the Oak Hall Mini Meet on March 4, with the girls track and field team getting a win from Amia Bethea in one event and a runner-up finish from Holly Halfacre in another.
Bethea ran a first-place time of 12.38 in the 100m. She was one of three Union athletes to place in the top 10, with Faith Sirmones running a ninth-place time of 14.43 and Susan McLeod running a 10th-place time of 14.49.
Halfacre took second in the 200m with a time of 29.16.
It was one of three top-five finishes for Halfacre. She had a third-place distance of 14 inches, 8.75 inches in the long jump and ran a fifth-place time of 19.93 in the 100m hurdles.
Melinda Mabrey placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 24-2.25. Teammates Jamie Webb and Alexia Cyr were eighth and ninth, respectively, with distances of 20-9.25 and 19-2.75.
Cyr had a seventh-place distance of 53-10 in the discus, while three other Union athletes earned seventh-place finishes as well: Audrey Miller, who cleared 4 feet in the high jump, Sirmones, who had a distance of 13-6.25 in the long jump, and Mikayla Johnson, who had a time of 1:10 in the 400m.
Rachel Harris ran a 10th-place time of 2:58 in the 800m, while Kimber Andrews had a 10th-place time of 6:44 in the 1600m.
Other Union results were: 100m — Brianna Taylor 14.52, Ivy Wilson 14.74, Jaden Johnson 14.99, Makenzie Barry 15.42, Naliana Hampton 15.85, Kinley Phillips 16.04, Elauna Roberts 16.31; 200m — Mikayla Johnson 31.44, Miller 32.58, Barry 33.06, Maddison McKenzie 33.52, Hampton 34.04, Phillips 34.42, Sommer McKenzie 36.48; 400m — McLeod 1:13, McKenzie 1:15, Barry 1:19; 800m — Andrews 2:59, Jillian Norman 3:00, Kaitlyn Pafford 3:14, Ryleigh Floyd 3:25; 1600m — Norman 6:57, Harris 7:13, Floyd 8:03, Pafford 8:36; long jump — Miller 11-7; and discus — Webb 44-3, Mari Williams 43-7.
