Amia Bethea continues to break her own Union County High School record, with her latest record-setting performance occurring at the April 4 Pepsi Florida Relays at the University of Florida.

Bethea ran the 100m in 11.95 seconds to finish 11th out of 31 runners. The mark broke her previous record of 12.11, which she ran on March 18 at a meet hosted by Suwannee High School.

No other runner at a school in District 4-2A, which includes UCHS, has a better time than Bethea. Eastside’s KeAisha Williams has a top mark of 12.69.

Bethea has the second-best 100m time among schools in Region 1 of Class 2A. Only Bolles’ Evie Freeman has a better time at 11.57.

In Class 2A as a whole, Bethea ranks sixth behind Dasia Reed of Montverde Academy (11.41), Freeman of Bolles, Trinity Parham of Cocoa (11.61), Diamond Bryant of Cocoa (11.76) and E’Tesia Forbes of Glades Central (11.83).

Reed and Parham both placed ahead of Bethea at the Florida Relays, with Reed winning the event.

The other runners who finished ahead of Bethea at the meet were ranked second, third and fourth in Class 3A and first, third, fourth, sixth and seventh in 4A.
