Bradford High School’s Shayne Davis and Sampson Jackson were named Class 1A Boys Basketball Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively, with the release of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 6 awards.

Jackson has the 14-10 Tornadoes in the Final Four for the first time since 1974 and for just the second time in program history. Bradford won the District 6 championship and the Region 3 championship.

Davis, a junior, leads the team with a 10.7 points-per-game average. He scored 57 total points in the Tornadoes’ two district tournament and two regional playoff games — a 14.3 average.

For the season, Davis has 182 total points in 17 games.

Besides Bradford, FACA District 6 includes 23 schools from Clay, Flagler, Putnam and St. John’s counties. A Player of the Year and Coach of the Year was named for each Florida High School Athletic Association classification (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A) as well as for schools that play independently of the FHSAA.
