Bradford High School’s baseball team scored four runs in the top of the fifth, but host P.K. Yonge scored five in the bottom half of the inning as the Blue Wave handed the Tornadoes a 12-8 loss on March 7.

The Tornadoes (6-4) took an 8-4 lead with their fifth-inning runs. Kaedan Parks, Avery Burgin and Breion Johnson hit back-to-back-to-back singles, with Parks scoring on Johnson’s hit. Burgin scored on a passed ball. After Taylor Bice walked, Johnson also scored on a passed ball. The bases were loaded, with Jaron Hale getting hit by a pitch and Ryland Rike walking. Bice scored the inning’s final run on a passed ball.

Six of Bradford’s total runs were scored because of a passed ball, a bases-loaded walk or a balk.

The Blue Wave took advantage of a single, a double, three walks and an error to score its five runs in the bottom of the fifth. The error occurred on a fly ball that would’ve resulted in the third out.

Bice and Parks each went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Burgin went 2 for 4, while Johnson finished with one RBI.

Bradford hosts Baker County on Tuesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. and will host Williston on Thursday, March 13, at 7 p.m. The Tornadoes travel to play Interlachen on Friday, March 14, at 7 p.m. before returning home to play Gainesville on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m.
