Bradford High School earned Region 1-2A berths in the boys 4x800m relay and the girls 400m at the District 3 meet on April 19 at St. Augustine’s Tocoi Creek High School.
The top four finishers in each event earned the right to advance. The Region 1 meet will be held Wednesday, May 3, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Jordan Barton, Krystian Harris, Chayten Sanders and Hayden Starling teamed up to run a third-place time of 10:37 in the 4x800m. In the girls 400m, Kaelyn Booker ran a fourth-place time of 1:04.59, grabbing the last region-qualifying spot ahead of Santa Fe’s Caidence Stengel, who had a time of 1:04.66.
Bradford missed out on qualifying in two other events by one spot. The girls 4x100m relay team of Booker, Diamond Ferguson, Holly Holt and Kendell Shanks ran a fifth-place time of 53.11, finishing behind Beachside, which had a time of 52.38. Jaleel Easley was fifth in the boys 400m with a time of 52.02. Keystone Heights’ Shepherd Rozier earned the last Region 1 spot with a time of 51.92.
The Tornadoes also earned points from their boys 4x100m team. Ne-O Addison, Elijah Lawrence, Michael Oliver and Branden Williams ran a sixth-place tie of 45.41.
Bradford placed seventh in the boys team standings, while the girls team was eighth.
Other boys results were: 100m — Williams 11.84, Addison 11.92, Brian Cliffin 12.73; 200m — Oliver 24.64, Lawrence 25.28, Easley 25.40; 400m — Sanders 1:04, Lawrence 1:05; 800m — Barton 2:29, Harris 2:34, Starling 2:50; 1600m — Barton 5:55; long jump — Cliffin 17-2.75; discus — Nathaniel Raymond 105-4, Jacob Ferguson 99-3; and shot put — Ferguson 37-2.5, Raymond 36-7.75.
The Tornadoes also had the following girls results: 100m — Ferguson 13.77, Shanks 13.96; 200m — Kaiya Booker 33.45; 400m — Holt 1:11, Kaiya Booker 1:14; 800m — Layne Loper 4:09; discus — Loper 61-1; and shot put — Loper 16-3.25.
