BHS girls just miss out on season-opening win in tennis

Bradford High School hosted Baker County to open the tennis season on Feb. 6, with the girls losing 4-3.

Two earned wins in singles, with Caitlyn Jackson defeating her opponent 8-2 in the number-two slot and Rylie Harris recording an 8-5 victory at the number-five slot. Reagan Harris had close match at number one, but fell 8-6.

Maya Moss and Victoria Hudgens each lost 8-0 at the number-three and number-four slots, respectively.

Jackson and Reagan Harris teamed up for an 8-5 win at number-one doubles. The team of Moss and Hudgens lost 8-2.

Bradford travels to play Keystone Heights on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 3:30 p.m. The Tornadoes return home to play West Nassau on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 3:30 p.m.

The Bradford boys team lost 5-2 to Baker, earning one singles victory and one doubles victory.

Calum Butler defeated his opponent 8-2 at the number-one slot. He teamed up with Rowan Butler for an 8-6 win at number-one doubles.

Rowan Butler lost a close 9-7 match at number-two singles.

The rest of the singles matches resulted in an 8-2 loss for James Hudgens and 8-0 losses for Jack Hendrix and Cayman Brown.

Hendrix and Hudgens lost 8-1 in doubles play.

Bradford hosts Keystone on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 3:45 p.m. and, like the girls team, will also host West Nassau on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 3:30 p.m.
