Bradford High School’s football team was fourth in the Florida High School Athletic Association’s inaugural power rankings, which were released Sept. 26, but the Tornadoes are now fifth in the latest rankings, which were updated on Oct. 3.

Cocoa (4-1) jumped from seventh to the top spot. Walton (5-0) is second, followed by Fort Meade (5-0), Bishop Verot (6-0) and Bradford (5-0).

The rest of the top 10 in 2S consists of Wakulla (6-0), Suwannee (5-0), Titusville (6-0), Florida High (4-1) and Hudson (5-0).

Each classification is made up of four regions. Bradford is the top-ranked team in Region 2.

Keystone (2-3) moved up from 42nd to 36th in Class 2S as a whole and improved from 10th to eighth in Region 2.

In Class 1R, Union County (2-2) remained 16th, which is where the Tigers were in the inaugural rankings. The Tigers also remained as the fourth-ranked team in Region 3 behind Lafayette (4-1), Fort White (4-1) and Madison County (3-1).

The season’s final power rankings will determine at-large playoff qualifiers as well as postseason seeding.
