BHS, KHHS runners compete in Indian Invite

Keystone Heights High School placed third as a team in both the boys and girls varsity races at the third annual Indian Cross Country Invite, which was held Sept. 13 at Melrose’s Trinity Youth Camp.

The Indians had a team score of 59 in the boys race, placing behind Middleburg (25) and Baker County (58) and finishing ahead of Clay (118), Crescent City (123) and Ridgeview (145).

Keystone’s Noah Yara placed second out of 59 runners, crossing the line in 18:45.

Middleburg’s Daniel Johnson posted the winning time of 18:19.

The Indians’ Ryder Thomas was fourth at 18:56, while Hunter Gray finished 12th at 20:04.

Bradford’s Steven Carter ran a 17th-place time of 20:35.

Ryeland Wahl and Gavin Morford earned 24th- and 28th-place finishes for Keystone with times of 21:23 and 21:42.

Also running for the Indians were Jason Parales 21:51, Eli Rabe 22:46, Alex Mahaffey 23:43, Hunter Sheppard 23:45 and Adam Bell 24:43.

Joining Carter from Bradford were Kayden Lee 24:54, Liam Reeves 25:03 and Kolson Lee 28:18.

On the girls side, the Indians’ score of 69 put them behind Middleburg (50) and Interlachen (62). Placing behind Keystone were Trinity Christian (72), Baker County (120) and Crescent City (125).

In the field of 56 individuals, Keystone’s Ryleigh Thomas and Olivia Griffin placed seventh and ninth, respectively, with times of 23:02 and 24:06. The Indians’ Melody Tyre had a 10th-place time of 24:14, while teammate Tessa Gray was 24th with a time of 26:57.

Bradford was led by Anna Adkins, who had a 29th-place time of 27:25.

Also running for the Tornadoes was Mia Olesen, who had a time of 29:53.

Additional Keystone results were Clara Beth Robinson 31:04, Bailee Morris 31:18, Kirsten Lavin 31:29, Raina Daniel 36:26, Baily Roberts 38:12 and Schiley Starling 39:43.

A junior varsity race consisted of 44 boys and girls runners. Keystone’s Mason Gray and Oliver Miller placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 23:55 and 25:04.

Virginia Hancock led three Bradford runners with a 30th-place time of 32:36.

The Tornadoes’ Kayleigh Dyal and Caden Eison finished with times of 32:57 and 33:56, respectively.
