BHS’ Lawrence, Lopey earn 2nd-place finishes at Columbia meet

Bradford High School track-and-field athletes participated in a March 8 meet at Columbia High School, with boys team member Elijah Lawrence and girls team member Ny’Asia Lopey both earning second-place finishes.

Lawrence ran a time of 23.35 seconds in finishing as runner-up in the 200m, while Lopey had a second-place distance of 31 feet, 6.5 inches in the triple jump.

Bradford took second in the boys 4x100m relay, with Lawrence, Iyen Addison, Jeremiah McKenzie and Branden Williams running a time of 44.79.

 Lawrence also ran a fourth-place time of 11.50 in the 100m.

Justin Hall took third in the boys long jump with a distance of 19-9.75.

Bradford got a pair of sixth-place finishes in the boys event from McKenzie in the 400m (55.44) and Barron Walden in the shot put (35-10.75).

 The Tornadoes also had the following boys results: 100m — Jarell Harris 11.97, Williams 12.02, Addison 12.73; 200m — Harris 25.02; 400m — Addison 1:01; 800m — Liam Reaves 3:07; 1600m — Reaves 6:48; long jump — Brayden Smyth 15-7.75, Jaydin Williams 13-9.75; shot put — Brian Cliffin 34-0, Raimond Pedro 28-10.5; and discus — William Aldridge 10th 93-0, Tyler Schaffer 53-0.

On the girls side, Chelsie Curtis participated in the long jump (10-6.75), while Kalissa Smith competed in the shot put (19-1.5).

A’drionna Hankerson also took part in the discus (35-2).
