Bradford High School had eight Region 2-1A qualifiers, including four who were runners-up in their weight classes at the Jan. 24 District 6 girls weightlifting meet in Keystone Heights.
The Tornadoes, who competed in the traditional event only, had 37 points, which left them trailing runner-up Union County by just two points.
Keystone won the championship with 72 points, while Bradford finished ahead of Baldwin (32), Fort White (29) and Bishop Snyder (8).
Finishing as individual runners-up for Bradford were Kolee Lemire with a 185-pound total (90 clean and jerk, 95 bench press) in the 110-pound class, Brandy Hall with a 210 total (105, 105) in the 129 class, Destiny Randolph with a 230 total (115, 115) in the 199 class and Timya Ray with a 300 total (150, 150) in the unlimited class.
They will compete as at-large qualifiers with four of their teammates at the Region 2 meet, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Chiefland Middle-High School at 10 a.m.
Also qualifying for regionals were Kellsie Cochran with a third-place total of 245 (115, 130) in the 183 class, Hailey Redding with a fourth-place total of 205 (110, 95) in the 129 class, Blakeleigh Smith with a fourth-place total of 210 (100, 110) in the 139 class and Mallory Frazier with a fifth-place total of 195 (105, 90) in the 139 class.
Bradford had three others competing, with Emmalynn Crawford placing fourth in the 199 class with a 195 total (95, 100), Kadynce Brown placing sixth in the 119 class with a 175 total (75, 100) and Ireland Box placing sixth in the 154 class with a 195 total (95, 100).
