BHS softball team drops 5-2 game to Purple Hurricanes

Visiting Gainesville scored four unanswered runs in defeating the Bradford High School softball team 5-2 on April 17.

The Tornadoes (5-8) had two on with two outs in the bottom of the second when Rylie Blankenship hit a triple that scored Kallie Yowell, who reached on a walk, and Amber Wynn, who reached on a single.

Blankenship finished 3 for 3, while Addyson Hinds went 2 for 4.

Bradford entered the game off a 4-3 loss to visiting Orange Park on April 14.

The Tornadoes tied the score at 3-3 with two runs in the sixth. Hinds hit a leadoff double, advanced on a Kirsten Hodges bunt and scored on a Madison Highland single. One out later, Wynn hit an RBI double.

Orange Park led off the top of the seventh with a double and single to score the winning run.

Hinds went 3 for 3 with two doubles, while Wynn was 2 for 3 with one RBI.

Blankenship went 2 for 4 with one RBI.

Bradford hosts Hawthorne on Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m. and travels to play Buchholz on Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m. The Tornadoes then travel to play Suwannee on Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m. before returning home to play Bishop Snyder on Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
