BHS softball team falls 11-6 in District 3-3A semifinal game

Bradford High School’s softball team scored the first three runs, but eventually lost 11-6 to second seed Palatka in the District 3-3A tournament semifinals on April 30 in Palatka.

The third seed Tornadoes (8-17) got on the board in the first inning when Rylie Blankenship singled and stole second and third before scoring on an Amber Wynn single.

Bradford went up 3-0 in the second. Kallie Yowell walked and advanced on a Tinsley Higginbotham bunt. Yowell moved to third on a passed ball with two outs and scored on a Blankenship single. Blankenship stole second before scoring on a Wynn single.

Palatka (11-15) scored seven runs in the fourth inning to go up by four.

It was 9-3 when Bradford scored its final three runs in the sixth. Blankenship walked, while Wynn singled. Addyson Hinds ground into a double play, but Blankenship was able to score. Keegan Yowell reached on an error before Madison Highland hit a home run to center field.

Wynn finished 3 for 4, while Kallie Yowell went 2 for 3.

Blankenship and Keegan Yowell each went 2 for 4.
