BHS takes 2nd ahead of UCHS despite Zapp’s 3rd-place finish

Union County High School’s Caleb Zapp placed third, while Bradford High School had four place in the top nine to help the Tornadoes place second ahead of Union in a Sept. 20 golf match in Lake City.

Lafayette won the match with a score of 173. The Tornadoes had a score of 198, which put them 23 strokes ahead of the host Tigers.

Zapp had a birdie and made par on one hole to finish with a score of 44.

Cody Spratlin was Bradford’s top golfer. He made par on two holes and placed fifth with a score of 47.

The Tornadoes’ Charles Zink and Hayden Knight placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with scores of 48 and 50. Zink made par on two holes, while Knight made par on one.

Bradford’s Jacob Brugh, who made par on one hole, had a ninth-place score of 53.

Caleb Ripplinger, who made par on one hole, earned a 12th-place finish for Union with a score of 57.

A three-way tie for 13th existed between the Tigers’ Grant Dicks and Zoe Elixson and the Tornadoes’ Troy Smith. Each shot a 60, with Dicks making par on one hole.

The Tigers’ Tucker Williams had a 16th-place score of 66, while the Tornadoes’ Kaylee Devore had a 17th-place score of 73.
