BHS to send 2 to Region 1-2A track, field meet

Parviele Lee and Ny’asia Lopey earned Region 1-2A qualifying berths for Bradford High School with their performances at the District 4 meet, which was held April 25 at Alachua’s Santa Fe High School.

The top four finishers in each event automatically qualified for the Region 1 meet, which will be held Friday, May 2, at Pensacola’s Pine Forest High School.

Bradford had no one receive at-large bids.

Lee placed fourth in the boys shot put with a distance of 42 feet, 9.75 inches. That left him trailing Palatka’s Julius Leonard (46-1.25), Santa Fe’s Sam Lopez (45-7) and Palatka’s Justin Fells (44-9.5).

Girls team member Lopey also earned a fourth-place finish with a distance of 31-9.5 in the triple jump, which put her behind Eastside’s Tyesha Smith (38-0), Palatka’s Destiny Williams (34-5.75) and Union County’s Holly Halfacre (32-1).

The boys team also earned points from Justin Hall, who had a sixth-place distance of 19-0 in the long jump, and Elijah Lawrence, who had an eighth-place time of 23.42 in the 200m.

Lawrence just missed scoring in the 100m with a ninth-place time of 11.20.

Bradford also had the following boys results: long jump — Jaydin Williams 14-3; discus — William Aldridge 95-11; shot put — Raimond Pedro 32-5.5; 100m — Branden Williams 11.30, Iyen Addison 11.95; 1600m — Liam Reaves 6:07.30; and 800m — Reaves 2:52.82.
