Bradford High School’s volleyball team has won five in a row after a 1-7 start, with its latest win coming against host Interlachen by a score of 3-2 (27-25, 22-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11) on Sept. 28.
The Tornadoes (6-7) got a tremendous defensive effort from Rylie Blankenship, who recorded 56 digs, while Takeirra Bakken set up her teammates to the tune of 22 assists. Bakken added 17 digs, nine kills, six service aces and two blocks, while Blankenship also had two aces.
Kencie Wainwright led the team in kills with 10, while Raven Ford added seven. Ford also had 10 digs and four blocks.
Bradford’s win streak began against Fort White on Sept. 20. The Tornadoes earned a 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-12) on the Indians’ home court, getting 11 kills and four blocks from Ajiyah Jackson. Reagan Harris had 10 digs and five kills, while Blankenship had 17 digs and two service aces. Ford added three blocks and two aces.
The Tornadoes hosted Palatka on Sept. 21, winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-15). Blankenship had 23 digs and three aces, while Bakken had 15 assists, 10 kills, five digs and three aces. Ayanna Pringle added five kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces.
Bakken recorded double digits in assists again in the Tornadoes’ 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21) win against host Suwannee on Sept. 23. Bakken had 10 assists to go along with five aces, while Ashley Brady had eight assists, four digs and three aces. Harris added seven aces, four kills and three digs.
Bradford hosted Fort White on Sept. 27, winning 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-22). Pringle and Harris had six and four kills, respectively, while Harris also added four digs. Wainwright contributed six aces.
