Bradford High School opened the volleyball season with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-12) loss to visiting Buchholz on Aug. 17, but bounced back to defeat host Suwannee 3-2 (16-25, 25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13) on Aug. 19.
Tatum Burkhalter was the team leader in multiple categories in the loss to Buchholz with seven digs, three kills and three service aces. Manduo Wei had five digs.
In the win over Suwannee, Burkhalter and Autumn DeKorver had 12 and six kills, respectively. Burkhalter also had 17 digs, while DeKorver had nine digs, six assists, four aces and two blocks.
Wynter Barrington, Leila Roberts and Elaina Smith each had two blocks as well, with Smith also adding seven digs.
Kingslee Phillips led the team in digs with 18 and assists with 12.
Wei had 17 digs, while Shelby Cole and Lakelyn Sheppard had nine and seven, respectively. Cole also had nine assists.
Bradford hosts Crescent City on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m., following a junior varsity match at 6 p.m. The Tornadoes will travel to play Tocoi Creek on Monday, Aug. 31, with the JV playing at 6 p.m. and the varsity playing at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Bradford hosts Orange Park, with matches scheduled for 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
