The Bradford High School volleyball team made a run to the championship match as the fifth seed, but the Tornadoes’ season came to an end with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-15) loss to second seed P.K. Yonge in the District 3-3A final on Oct. 20 at Palatka High School.

Bradford (6-10) put itself in a position to qualify for the regional playoffs by knocking off top seed Palatka 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) in the Oct. 18 semifinals. The win occurred 21 days after the Tornadoes were swept by Palatka during the regular season.

Takeirra Bakken had 25 assists, seven kills and three service aces to help Bradford get the win. The Tornadoes also got six kills and four blocks from Ajiyah Jackson, while Kirsten Hodges had eight digs and two aces.

The Tornadoes entered the championship match having won four of their last five matches (including a 3-0 District 3 quarterfinal win over fourth seed Taylor County on Oct. 17).

If Bradford had defeated P.K. Yonge (14-10) in the championship match, it would’ve advanced to the regional playoffs for the first time since 2016.
