Bradford High School held its 2025-2026 National Technical Honor Society induction ceremony on Thursday, March 19, welcoming 13 new members to Chapter 5123 and installing officers for the coming school year.

Science teacher Camara Casson, one of the chapter’s faculty advisors, opened the ceremony by noting that NTHS has recognized more than 1 million members since its founding in 1984 and awards nearly $300,000 in scholarships annually.

Computer science teacher and chapter advisor Steven Djavaheri presided over the officer installation.

Officers installed were: President Irene Jaimes; Vice President Camron Newman; Student Engagement Officer Kandence Simmons; Treasurers Natasha and Nakayla Roberts; Governor Miranda Jaimes; and Historians Elizabeth Wagner, Christine Reaves, Kiersten Grace, Vayne Marable, and Sevon Smart.

The chapter’s historians presented a history of the organization before the ceremony’s candle-lighting portion, during which the chapter’s seven core attributes, knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership, were recognized.

“The National Technical Honor Society began as a way to spotlight the talents of students in technical and career-focused education, helping those often-overlooked skills,” said historian Seven Smart. “Originally formed by educators who saw the need to celebrate excellence and experience, the organization has run a nationwide program partnering with schools and industries to recognize students, not just for academic success, but for their character, work ethic, and commitment to learning hands-on skills that keep our communities running.”

“At the heart of NTHS lies the dedication to fostering academic excellence, leadership and service among its members,” added historian Vayne Marable.

Marable also stated that the significance of the organization extends beyond just recognition. It serves as a starting point for progress in an ever-evolving society by supporting its members’ talents and skills.

Inductees recited the NTHS pledge before Djavaheri declared them official members. The following students were inducted:

Jaydin Williams, Sevon Smart, Kadence Simmons, Natasha Roberts, Nakayla Roberts, Makayla Pernell, Vayne Marable, Aurora Marable, Ka’darius Holley, Kiersten Grace, Abigail Bryzinshki, Takayla Barnes and Ja’nyla Anderson.

NTHS membership is open to students who demonstrate exemplary performance in career and technical education. The organization supports students pursuing fields including healthcare, criminal justice, culinary arts, digital design and information technology.

“This is an honor that you will be able to carry with you throughout your education and your career,” Casson told the new members.
