Booker earns win for BHS at home meet

Kaelyn Booker won an even for the Bradford High School girls track and field team, which also earned two second-place finishes at a March 1 home meet.

Booker took first in the 400m with a time of 1:05, while also teaming up with Alyssa Hunt, Diamond Ferguson and Holly Holt for a second-place time of 57.78 in the 4x100m relay.

Ferguson earned a second-place finish as an individual in the 200m (30.83), while Hunt was third in the 400m (1:14).

The boys team was runner-up in the 4x100m relay, with Jarrin Alexander, Cassius Carn, Chason Clark and Ne-O Addison teaming up to run 46.82. The 4x400m relay team of Jeremiah McKenzie, Trejan Tyson, Brian Cliffin and Clark placed third (4:09).

Addison earned another third-place finish for the boys team in the 200m (25.91). Cliffin was fourth in that race (25.94), while Alexander took fourth in the 100m (11.67).

Bradford had two fourth-place finishes in the girls competition, with Natalie Thomas running the 1600m in seven minutes and the 4x400m team of Booker, Holt, Jillian Lee and Hunt running a time of 5:19.

The girls 800m saw Lindsey McCoy and Layne Loper place fifth and seventh, respectively, with times of 3:05 and 3:21, while Alissa Reddish and Loper were fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 1600m with times of 7:04 and 7:42.

Lee also competed in the 800m, finishing with a time of 3:45.

Bradford earned a pair of seventh-place finishes on the boys side: Michael Oliver in the 100m (12.48) and Jamarian Cummings in the 200m (25.56).

The boys team also had the following results: 200m — Carn 28.01; 400m — Jamarion Hood 1:08; 800m — Silas Markwich 2:35; and 1600m — Jordan Barton 5:48.

 

BHS competes in Raiders’ freshman, sophomore event

The Tornadoes competed in the Santa Fe Raider Freshman/Sophomore Invitational on March 2, with Booker placing third in the 400m with a time of 1:08.

Holt, Reddish, Thomas and McCoy teamed up for a fourth-place time of 14:21 in the 4x800m relay, while the 4x400m team of Booker, Hunt, Lee and Holt was fifth (5:17).

Reddish and Thomas were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 3200m with times of 17:33.36 and 17:33.37.

The boys 4x400m team of Addison, Carn, Clark and Hood was fourth (4:23), while the 4x100m team of Clark, Oliver, McKenzie and Hood was sixth (47.89).

Bradford also recorded the following boys results: 100m — McKenzie 12.52, Cliffin 12.90; 200m — McKenzie 25.27, Devon McBride 26.30, Oliver 26.82, Carn 28.99; 400m — Tyson 1:02, Hood 1:04; 1600m — Barton 5:46, Markwich 5:54; and 3200m — Barton 14:37.

The girls team had the following additional results: 100m —Ferguson 14.59; 200m — Ferguson 31.03, Lee 37.32; 400m — Hunt 1:14; 800m — McCoy 3:04; 1600m — Thomas 7:01, Reddish 7:01; and 4x100m — Booker, Hunt, Lee, Ferguson 59.80.
