A 32-year-old Hilliard man was sentenced to 23 days in jail and two years’ probation after pleading to vehicle theft.

Tyler Blaine Dyal was also ordered to pay the victim $500 in restitution.

According to a complaint, the victim told deputies that on June 28, 2023, she allowed the defendant to borrow her vehicle to purchase a drink at a local gas station.  However, after Dyal failed to return the car, the victim called the sheriff’s office.

The defendant’s prior record included grand theft auto, resisting an officer without violence, violation of an injunction, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and polluting by commercial burning.
