Bradford County officials said the county has been approved for a $75,000 Competitive Florida Partnership Grant. The county said the award represents the maximum project potential and will be instrumental in advancing the county’s economic development initiatives.

In a news release, the county said the grant will enable Bradford County to develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategic plan focused on sustainable growth within the county and the broader region.

“The funding will be allocated towards several key initiatives, including the creation of the strategic plan, the execution of targeted marketing strategies, and the facilitation of community engagement efforts, the county said. “This plan is designed to position Bradford County as an attractive destination for business expansion and investment, ultimately driving long-term economic prosperity for both residents and local businesses.”

Amber Shepherd, the strategic business partner of the Northeast Florida Economic Development Corporation, said the corporation would be the county’s primary contractor in implementing the grant. She added that while 40% of business relocations or new investments come from professional site selectors, the county needs a marketing and outreach program for the other 60%.

County Manager Scott Kornegay said the grant and the county’s economic development efforts would ultimately improve the lives of Bradford County residents.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the CPTA Grant program,” he said. “This funding will allow us to fully leverage our county’s potential, creating new opportunities for economic development and ensuring that Bradford County remains a vibrant and thriving community. We are greatly looking forward to working with Northeast Florida Economic Development Corporation to develop a comprehensive economic development strategic plan that will guide our efforts in fostering sustainable growth and enhancing the quality of life for our residents.”
