Bradford dominant in 3-0 girls weightlifting start

Bradford High School won every weight class and earned four second-place finishes as well in defeating visiting Fleming Island 65-26 in a Nov. 18 girls weightlifting meet.

The Tornadoes, who improved to 3-0, had the following winners: Abbie Markham with a 155 total (80 bench press, 75 clean and jerk) in the 101 class, Hannah McFarland with a 230 total (105, 125) in the 110 class, Mikayla Cooper with a 230 total (105, 125) in the 119 class, Breann Ponce with a 210 total (105, 105) in the 129 class, Allie McFarland with a 240 total (125, 115) in the 139 class, Brianna Jordan with a 350 total (215, 135) in the 154 class, Courtney Comer with a 370 total (235, 135) in the 169 class, Takeirra Bakken with a 315 total (150, 165) in the 183 class, Gabby Oliver with a 340 total (185, 155) in the 199 class and Mahailya Reeves with a 500 total (315, 185) in the unlimited class.

Finishing in second place were Kristen Hodges with a 175 total (90, 85) in the 129 class, Eden Chalker with a 210 total (110, 100) in the 139 class, Raven Ford with a 240 total (120, 120) in the 154 class and Jessica Traylor with a 380 total (195, 185) in the unlimited class.

Emma Franke placed third in the 169 class with a 210 total (105, 105), while Presley Acree was fourth in the 119 class with a 150 total (75, 75).

Bradford opened the season with a 57-25 win over host Keystone Heights on Nov. 9, with seven lifters winning their classes: Hannah McFarland with a 240 total (105, 135), Cooper with a 230 total (105, 125), Jordan with a 385 total (220, 165), Comer with a 400 total (235, 165), Bakken with a305 total (145, 160), Oliver with a 335 total (180, 155) and Reeves with a 520 total (335, 185).

Four lifters earned runner-up finishes: Allie McFarland with a 215 total (125, 90), Ford with a 215 total (105, 110), Franke with a 205 total (105, 100) and Traylor with a 365 total (205, 160).

Chalker had a 195 total (105, 90) to place fourth.

On Nov. 15, the Tornadoes won every weight class but one in defeating visiting Fort White 67-15.

Placing first were Markham with a 160 total (80, 80), Cooper with a 230 total (105, 125), Ponce with a 210 total (105, 105), Allie McFarland with a 230 total (125, 105), Jordan with a 375 total (220, 155), Bakken with a 315 total (145, 170), Oliver with a 335 total (180, 155) and Reeves with a 500 total (315, 185).

Seven lifters earned second-place finishes: Hannah McFarland with a 235 total (105, 130), Acree with a 150 total (75, 75), Chalker with a 200 total (110, 90), Ford with a 230 total (115, 115), Franke with a 205 total (100, 105) Gabby Honeycutt with a 135 total (65, 70) in the 183 class and Traylor with a 340 total (175, 165).

Hodges was third in her class with a 185 total (90, 95), while Zaya Thompson was third in the unlimited class with a 285 total (150, 135).
