Bradford officials say “no” to additional fire truck

The Bradford County Board of County Commissioners voted 3-2 against purchasing a new fire engine at their May 21 meeting, declining a request from Bradford County Fire Rescue Chief Ben Carter.

Commission Chairwoman Carolyn Spooner voiced support for the department’s needs but expressed reservations about the expenditure in a tight budget environment, questioning whether the county could temporarily rely on the new Brooker truck until funds became more available. Carter explained that the Brooker truck remains town-owned until Bradford County completes construction of a new fire station.
