STARKE—A 25-year-old Brooker man was arrested after his family members accused him of threatening them with a knife.

Blakely Thomas Trueblood was arrested for aggravated assault on December 25.

A family member of the defendant told deputies that she and the defendant had been arguing all day about a missing wallet, and Trueblood swung a knife with a blade approximately 16 inches long at family members.

The defendant told deputies that he never swung the knife at anyone but was going through a mental health issue and family members were trying to take the weapon from him.

“Trueblood stated that he has had a very rough year and wants to kill himself,” wrote reporting officer B. Whitehead in an arrest report. “While in the holding cell at the sheriff’s office, Trueblood started banging on the bench and screaming that he was going to kill himself. Due to this behavior, Trueblood was placed in the restraint chair and taken over to the Bradford County Jail.”

Whitehead added that since children were present during the incident, he notified Florida’s Department of Children and Families of the assault.
